Pür’s Fully Charged Magnetic Mascara Review

We’ve seen all sorts of innovation in makeup. From cushion foundations all the way to liquid lipsticks. This one from Pür cosmetics, however, is a magnetic mascara. So yeah, hold the phone… what do you mean magnetic mascara??? No, no, you don’t just open the tube and the mascara will automatically stick to your lashes. Apparently, it’s the technology of the formula. Despite being in uni for almost four years now, I can’t seem to paraphrase what the website says about this formula because dayum gurl I’m not that scientific.

Opposites attract with this anti-aging mascara that has a “magnetic” polymer matrix that wraps a positively charged elastic veil around each lash to instantly lift, separate and define each lash for long-lasting performance.

Pür Cosmetics

Since it’s such a crazy concept, I thought I would give this mascara a go (well also because I saw Niomi Smart using this and it looked amazing) and filmed my first impressions on it, which is now on my YouTube channel. So if you haven’t watched that video, well, you should. Because this is meant to be an extension of that video haha.

In the video, you can see how impressed I was with the mascara. It made my lashes look feathery at first coat, but then after two coats, it gave me very voluminous and spidery lashes (which I love, mind you!), ones that are very similar to Charlotte Tilbury’s Legendary Lashes, without all the horrific smudging. However, after wearing it more regularly, I actually formed a different opinion on this mascara.

It actually smudges. Really easily.

Please excuse my face, but this is a result of a day-to-day application of the mascara.

You saw me applying the mascara on camera. But what you didn’t see was that I powdered a hell of a lot before I applied the mascara on my lashes. The mascara was sooo thick after two coats, and that got me scared so I powdered even more. Just a subconscious thing to do, you know? So day to day, I wouldn’t bother or have the time to put on my base that well. And whaddayknow… It does smudge! I mean it was nowhere near as bad as the Legendary Lashes, but it smudges quite easily. I don’t even bother putting it on my lower lashes anymore. And trust me when I say I’m a major lower lash kinda girl…

As you can see from the photo above, the mascara doesn’t look as prominent as it did on the video. Again, on a day-to-day basis, I wouldn’t have the time to stroke my lashes like a lonely cat lady strokes her cats, so that could be why.

So this actually gives me (and you) a lesson on first impressions: it’s just a first impression! You really gotta test out a product for a while in order to really understand the product and get a firm opinion on it. Well since this is a ‘magnetic’ mascara, I just thought it would be fun to film my first reactions to applying it.

In spite of all this, I still use it as my everyday mascara, and I am happy to have it in my collection, as you can build this up. Which makes it very versatile!

Spring Lookbook

The initial plan was to upload this early May, when Spring has just sprung and the weather is actually a bit colder (hence the slightly warmer clothes). It’s really quite hard to get people to film me ((un)fortunately my friends are hermit crabs and it’s so freaking hard to get them out of their HOME) so that’s why there is a one-month delay.

Anyway, in this lookbook, I featured four outfits, hopefully to inspire you on what to wear for what’s left of spring. I personally think spring is quite an awkward season, but it is my favourite. I feel like I always don’t know what to wear (well this happens no matter what season lol) because in the afternoon it’s kinda hot and in the evening it’s freezing. So it’s too hot to wear a jacket in the afternoon, but if you plan to be outside for the whole day, well, you’re kinda doomed without an outerwear. One thing all the outfits in this lookbook have in common are the lightweight outerwear and bottoms. I think they are key to keep yourself looking stylish but also fit for the weather.

I hope you enjoy this lookbook and let me know what you think down in the comments, and I’ll see you in my next one! 😉

Pink/Purple Smokey Eye Tutorial

So here’s my first ever makeup tutorial. I’ve always wanted to make one ever since I first started watching makeup tutorials because they seem sooo fun! So here is mine 🙂

It’s a glittery pink/purple toned eye makeup look. I think it would be great for a birthday dinner or if you’re just bored with using neutral colours on your lids. Here’s a subtle little twist to it!

Beautycon London ’15!

Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset

So a few days ago, my friend Chitra and I went to the first ever Beautycon in the UK! I don’t really know how to properly explain this event but it’s basically a beauty convention, just like the name. There are panels featuring a lot of YouTubers, stalls of beauty brands and you get to meet your favourite YouTubers in the meet & greet as well. It was sooo nice to finally meet the girls that had been a part of my daily routine for quite a while now. I usually see them behind my computer screen but being able to physically hug them and talk to them (even for a bit) felt quite unreal! I didn’t talk to them as much as I wanted to because I was being a chicken, as usual, but you know, at least I got to meet them and share the luv!

The first thing that was happening in the event was the meet & greet with Estee Lalonde, I was so excited to meet her but we were a bit late (of course). When we came in there was already a huuuge queue for her meet & greet. We waited for a good half an hour or probably even more. I was guessing a lot of people chatted with her for quite a long time by the time we queued up, and halfway through queueing the line went a bit faster, probably because time is running out. Enough with the chitter chatter, it was slowly my turn and I was hella nervous because I didn’t know what to talk about with her with such a short amount of time. I walked up to her and we said hi and hugged, Estee immediately said, “oh my god your outfit is on point!” and my whole day was honestly made. It’s only been an hour! We took a picture and she complimented my outfit yet again! I was kinda freaking out so I was like “oh my god thank you so much omg” and she was probably freaked out but ya know! We didn’t get to chat because she said there’s only 10 minutes left and the queue is literally still sooo long. So we parted our ways with Estee.

We then walked around and watched a few panels, browsed around, getting some free goodies from the stands (got a free mini Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish and a free NYX product!) and seeing a few smaller YouTubers walking by. I really regret not talking to them. Beautycon is also about meeting people who share the same interests as you and I kinda just wasted that part of it. I’ve learned my lesson though and will not do that again in the next one!

Chitra and I then queued up to meet Amelia Liana and Claire Marshall (heyclaire). Although I looove Amelia, I’ve met her before so I was ecstatic to finally meet Claire! The queue wasn’t as long as Estee’s because we were quite quick in the queue. It was our turn and Amelia looked a bit happy but puzzled at the same time as she greets us. She then said to me, “have we met before…?” and yes Amelia, we have!!! I was so surprised that she remembered me, I did not expect that at all. After hugging Claire, she also complimented my outfit. So my outfit that day is officially an EssieButton-and-Claire-Marshall-approved outfit! After taking a picture, that was kinda it. I was so nervous I literally couldn’t form words properly and kinda just said goodbye a short while after that. WHY DID I DO THAT?!?!

After that we saw a couple of panels, one of which was by Sarocha, a smaller vlogger, talking about how to set up your own channel and all of that good stuff. So in conclusion… I went to Beautycon just to meet my favourite people lol it was still good fun though! Just wish I maximised my time and opportunity there a lot more.

April Favourites!

[youtube https://youtu.be/Uh7KZJnN9D0]

I am backkkk after finishing all my final projects of this academic year!

This is my first ever favourites video and I am very excited because I’ve watched hundreds of them and I somehow get jealous of the people who just talk about their favourite things :p so here’s mine! If you want to find out a great mascara combination for false looking lashes (without the waiting-for-the-glue-to-get-tacky fuss) then check this video out 😉

I rambled quite a lot in this video and this is the condensed version. I got rid of a few items because it was getting too long. When I was filming this I keep on thinking of things that I want to talk about, because I just thought the video was gonna be too short. I was wrong.

Featuring:
Diorskin Star Foundation
Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara
Hourglass Ambient Lighting blush in Mood Exposure
L’Oreal #TXT Wave Creating Spray
Adidas Gazelle

Years & Years

FILLE

I don’t even have anymore excuses to explain why it took me two years to finally finish this video. I guess I gotta admit that I forgot that I had to work on this video, and was too lazy to continue. Since I made a channel, I thought it would be a great time and opportunity to finally publish this video.

My friend, Heidy, came to me for help with her scholarship programme entry for BA fashion marketing in Paris, of course I was more than happy to help! She created the overall concept of the project and I helped her execute the ideas into a video. I have to be honest, I don’t really remember what the task was, but she had to pick a highstreet fashion brand and simply market the brand (I think). She chose Pull & Bear for this and through this video, we wanted to show how versatile this clothing line is. You won’t find just one style. It can be edgy, it can be playful, and it can be a bit bohemian.

Tell me what you think of the video! I’m personally really proud of it somehow 🙂

New Channel, New Beginnings

If you’ve been reading my blog somehow, you know I was in years of constant debate with myself whether I should create a YouTube channel or not. Look, ma! I did it!

This is just an introduction video where I invite you round for a cup of tea and chat a bit about my channel and its background. If you really MUST know now, I will post fashion and beauty videos. I won’t just post lookbooks, I will also give you tips and advice (if you will) on fashion! I might also post some cinematographic stuff because that’s also what I like.

Please go on and subscribe to my channel because I have a pretty cool video coming up next week, if I do say so myself. 😉 I’d really, really, genuinely appreciate it.

Life Debates.

I honestly hate myself so much for always abandoning all of my blogs. Every time I make one, it takes about ten posts for me to then forget about it and not post in such a long time and then post again. And by those ten posts, I usually actually have ACTUAL readers but I always forget :”( It’s not that I want to abandon my blogs, I just always forget about it. or maybe I just couldn’t commit.

Well that actually connects to what I want to write about next. I’m in a constant debate with myself, I can probably say for the last five years or so, because judging from the number of blogs that I have in my lifetime (I have 6 in mind that I can still remember, probably missed a few), you can probably tell that I really do actually like blogging, and I’ve always wanted to get my blog somewhere.

I have also always been so interested in vlogging, or rather, just creating content on YouTube since I think vlogging was very different to what people know today. Nowadays, you would see vlogs as people holding their camera with their hand and talking directly to the camera, usually walking around doing stuff and filming it. Whereas back in the day, as in 7 years ago, when my friends and I were obsessed with watching YouTubers, vlogging is more of those typical sit-down videos, where you set up your camera on a tripod (or… a book, if you don’t have a tripod) and basically ramble and talk about something. There was a point in my life where my friends and I actually attempted to make a vlog, in my bedroom. Sadly, I don’t remember what we talked about, and we didn’t have the guts to post the video anddd my friend lost the footage, but I can literally still remember quite vividly of how we set up, how we stood and all that. The point is, I have always been so interested in the blogging and vlogging world. I regret so much that I didn’t just actually give it a go and always be a wimp about it. Here I am, knowing that fact, and still being a bloody wimp!!!

YouTube, as we all may or may not know it, has changed. A lot. It has gotten so freaking big, and a lot (I mean, A LOT) of people actually have ‘YouTuber’ as their job title. Rhett and Link of Good Mythical Morning have 6+ million subscribers, and they’re considered as the 86th most subscribed on YouTube. EIGHTY SIXTH. Jesus Christ! So 85 other people have more than 6 million subscribers. I could not even comprehend that. Since the creators’ side had multiplied itself by about 97324 billion, that would mean there is less chance for me to get noticed. I mean, the world really doesn’t need another smokey eye tutorial, or a winged liner tutorial, because THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT HAD DONE THAT ALREADY! And probably did a better job at it than I ever will. But I just feel really passionate about this. I love filming, as you can tell by the fact that I have made a lot of videos in the past, and I wanted to go to film school (and got accepted) but wasn’t allowed, and I feel like the only way I can achieve this is by YouTube. But now… I guess not so much :\

Ugh, I don’t know. All I’m trying to say is that I am actually giving YouTube a go. There’s no harm in trying, right? You’ll never know. well actually there is harm in it because if nobody watches my videos i will breakdown and be so sad that nothing’s going well for me and i would think “i worked hard for this, i think i have some talent but why isn’t this going well god HELP ME”

+ Moral of the year: Just. Do. It. Ok.
