ASOS

ASOS Summer 2017 Lust List

Ahh, summer. Most people’s favourite season that I cannot even fathom. This is probably due to the fact that I grew up in a tropical country where it’s 30 degrees celcius 24/7, 365 days a year. That also means that I am not necessarily ‘used to’ / always exposed to heat, because we have air conditioners everywhere we go. But folks, the average person in England does not have that luxury. So I am not used to it, at all! On top of that, I always go home every summer, so I don’t actually have that much exciting summer clothing in my London flat.

This could only mean one thing: getting sucked into the abyss that is ASOS. Which I’m sure you can all relate.

Now I don’t got that much money in my account, so I can’t even afford half of what I want. I was so excited to have these clothes so I can post more looks on my blog and other social media, but nah. It’s just not realistic when you live in London and want to eat a bowl of crispy duck ramen every single week. So I thought I would share with you some of my top picks on ASOS to give my wardrobe a bit of a Summer update. Many of them are on sale as well, so prepare your wallets!!

Dresses

If you watched my video on How to Dress for British Springtime, you will notice that I am suddenly really into dresses. I really cannot be bothered to make an effort to look stylish in summer because it’s too hot for stylish clothing!! But dresses solve this problem!

For the longest time, I wasn’t a fan of dresses at all because I think they are too girly for me. That’s why the dresses that I picked are for you girls out there that may have a slightly edgier style.

The first one is a bit of an edgy dress, I love the mix of prints and the different cuts, which definitely degrades the femininity of a dress. I am also very into smock dresses because it just gives off a playful vibe, and the pattern combined with the colours make it pretty different for a dress. The next one is probably one of the girliest but I love it because it has that ruffle flower detail on top. The gingham doesn’t stop there with this cute spin on an off the shoulder dress. And last but not least is this completely transparent pink dress that I think just looks so cool and grungy, I’m in awe. I’m so sorry though but this one is sold out 😦

Tops

I gotta say this section isn’t as exciting as the dresses part but I’m not usually too into summer tops for some reason. I’ve tried to find cute ones that I think I would like to wear throughout the years but I do struggle.

I am not too sure I would get a lot of wear out of the first one but I like how it’s one shoulder (instead of completely off-the-shoulder) and connected by a choker detail on the neck. I am sure each one of you have seen the second one though because so many vloggers have mentioned it recently, so it was sold out for a while. But now it’s back in stock!! Lastly, this red top is SO simple, I know. But I do want something simple that I can chuck on every week and not get too bored of it. You know what I mean?

Bottoms: Jeans and Footwear

I’ve been on the hunt for a light wash, straight-leg jeans that needs to be cropped at the most perfect place. But I think a light wash is just perfect for the bright summer months. If you are after something a little bit more different than a classic pair of jeans, I am obsessed with these dusky pink ones. Footwear-wise, I am lusting over this black and white rope sandals. I am very much into chunky footwear and I still translate that in summer. Though ropes can theoretically look more summery and feminine, the colour as well as the platform just transforms the sandals to be more… cutting edge lol. Now, the last one isn’t an ugly pair of flat shoes, they are actually SOCKS! How cool are they?! I can imagine myself wearing them with some doc martens, or if flat shoes are your thing then by all means go for it! It’s just more versatile than buying a straight up lacey/ribbony ballerina shoes that are everywhere nowadays.

I really hope you enjoy my picks, I actually really enjoyed writing this post!

Let me know which ones you are planning to dump into your basket or lust over with me!

boost: real talk on style

The idea of visiting Camden was the inspiration behind this outfit. People in Camden are always so cool, individual, and usually that little bit more punky and hipster-y, dare I say. I’m honestly so bad at describing fashion styles. I know this outfit might seem a little different for me, but the thing is, this really is just another side of my style. I used to be much more daring with my style, and boots. Boots, boots, and boots. So honestly this outfit is a little bit of a throwback to me to how I used to dress up when I just moved to London.

And you know what?

I felt so good in this outfit. I haven’t felt this way with the outfit that I am wearing in a bloody while. I felt really cool, confident, a bit not myself, but also SO myself. It’s really weird. It’s probably because I have gone through a pretty ‘dramatic’ change in my style, as I consider myself to be more monochromatic now and a little bit more classic and chic. So dressing like this, felt different to me when it actually really isn’t!

So I was thinking – maybe I should dress this ‘style’ more often, because I felt so me. But it’s gonna be pretty hard because my outfits are not all so Urban Outfitters-y like this.

And then it hit me. (Again) you know what?

WHO CARES!

I can dress however the hell I want, and there is no need to conform to a certain look for the rest of your freaking life! I have a hybrid of all different styles, and that’s okay. That’s what makes you… you.

I guess in the world of social media, it’s pretty hard to find your own style, because you get so inspired every single day with thousands and thousands of people’s outfits. And I have to admit I have been a bit caught and stuck in that bubble. I always considered myself as that girl who “doesn’t care about trends”. But because I’ve been deeply immersed to fashion and social media, I am kind of getting caught in trends.

For the past year, I’ve been trying to stick to a certain look – which I don’t even know what kind of look it is. But now I am trying to be a bit more relaxed about it and just basically wear whatever the hell it is I feel like wearing, even if it’s different to what I usually wear.

Enough with all this preaching and self-assuring sentences. Honestly, I don’t even know what I’m saying. I guess this is more of a note-to-self kind of post. I’m probably not even going to listen to myself and do what I usually do again. But that’s just human nature, right?

The main takeaway here is to wear whatever it is that you want to wear. You do not need to always be consistent with your ‘look’. As long as you feel great and feel like yourself.
